Yoga With ParkLives

Wednesday 28 June 2017

Yoga is something I've always wanted to try, but never actually went ahead and gave it a bash because I didn't think I would be coordinated enough to do it, until now. Alice and I got the chance to join in on a beginners class to see what ParkLives Southampton is all about.

We couldn't have possibly had better weather to do it in or a better day as it was world yoga day. Our session started at 6pm, the Sun was starting to cool and we also got to enjoy a sea breeze through out the session. Alice and I haven't ever tried yoga before so the beginners session was just perfect, although it was suitable for any level of yoga as each position could be adapted to what you felt comfortable doing. The session leader Jeeneen was perfect, she was able to keep an eye on everyone as well as giving pointers and helping with positioning through out.

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from yoga, I didn't even know if I would enjoy it but I'm really glad I went and tried it out as we are now planning to go back as often as possible. I can't remember the last time my body actually felt that relaxed. The yoga sessions are held in Mayflower Park, Southampton every Wednesday from 6pm - 7pm and its also completely free!

ParkLives is a programme from Coca Cola Great Britain and also such a good way of getting you out and enjoying your local parks in partnership with Southampton Council and Active Nation. They are now onto their second year running in Southampton and I'm so excited to be joining in much more this year. All of the ParkLives activities are free and open to anyone to join, you can be a complete beginner like me or you could do your usual Zumba class out in a local park for a change. Just go to www.parklives.com pop in your postcode and find whats happening near you, if you see anything you fancy giving a go you just have to sign up online.

I personally have only recently been made aware of how big ParkLives actually is. As much as I would love to do the yoga session every week, I don't always have a Wednesday off of work. I think I might be having a look into what else is happening on days I have off through out the summer to make the most of it.

Have you ever been to a ParkLives session?
